According to a report from the New York Post, a friend called 911 around 9:19 p.m. that Thursday, describing Urbina Ruiz as extremely intoxicated and erratic. The friend said Urbina Ruiz had been running through the street and trying to get into strangers' vehicles, and had attempted to pull her back inside the apartment before the fall. Police dispatcher notes cited in the report indicate she was not carrying any weapons.
Per the same report, her sister Catherine said Urbina Ruiz began drinking around 4 p.m. that day and grew combative when it came time to head home. Catherine added that her sister would not normally become sloppy or overly intoxicated, a detail that has left the family searching for answers about what happened in her final hours.
