Universal City is about to lose one of its longtime Thai dinner stops: Noy’s Thai Bistro is closing after 15 years, with owners Duane and Noy Korslund stepping away to retire. The restaurant is still serving for now, giving regulars a limited window for one more plate of pad thai, panang curry or pineapple fried rice.

The retirement-driven closure was first reported by MySA, which said the restaurant announced on May 26 that it would close at the end of August. Noy’s began in Windcrest in 2011 before relocating to Universal City, where it has remained ever since. A specific final day of service has not been announced.

A 15-Year Run From Windcrest To Universal City

The restaurant’s Universal City home at 976 Coronado Boulevard was already part of the city’s business landscape by 2016, when a City of Universal City report listed Noy’s Bistro among local businesses receiving signage improvements. Its menu has centered on Thai staples, including curries, noodles and fried rice, along with seafood and other Asian dishes.

For customers who have kept the restaurant in their regular rotation, the timing makes this more of a farewell tour than a sudden disappearance. The August closing window gives diners some time to return, although the lack of an exact last day means plans could still shift.

The Restaurant Is Also Listed For Sale

Noy’s own sale listing describes the fully operational restaurant as being for sale and says the owners are retiring. No successor or buyer has been publicly announced, so it remains unclear whether the concept could continue after the Korslunds step away.

As of the latest listing, the restaurant’s official contact page still shows the Universal City location offering dine-in, carry-out and online ordering. For now, the safest assumption is that August is the final month for Noy’s Thai Bistro and that fans should check directly with the restaurant before making a last-minute curry run.
