A comedian who built a following of more than 15 million people off viral farm chore videos is bringing his first-ever world tour through Hanover this winter. Matt Mathews will perform his “Not What I Ordered” tour at The HALL at Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland on February 5, 2027, marking a stop on a 74-date run that stretches from September 2026 through May 2027.
The Birmingham, Alabama native is a comedian, singer-songwriter and entertainer who has generated more than 1 billion views across social media platforms, according to Eye On Annapolis. His comedy draws heavily from his life as a farmer, barrel racer, entrepreneur, Alabamian and openly gay entertainer, blending personal storytelling with the rural persona that first made him famous online during the pandemic through his viral farm chore videos.
Those early clips eventually grew into the YouTube series “Farm Chores with Matt Mathews & Friends,” which launched in March 2026 and has featured guest appearances from comedians and creators including Funny Marco, Heather McMahan, Dasha, Trailer Trash Tammy and Anjelah Johnson, according to background compiled by the F.M. Kirby Center. Mathews also currently stars in the digital series “Doin the Most with Matt Mathews and Kail Lowry,” per Eye On Annapolis's report on the tour announcement.
From Boudoir Photography to Sold-Out Arenas
Mathews' path to the stage is a recent one. He didn't make his stand-up debut until 2022, and before that he worked full-time as a multi-award-winning boudoir photographer in Birmingham, according to SeatGeek. That photography background helped him build an online visual brand before he ever picked up a microphone, and he has said he simply started making videos and telling jokes online.
His previous run, the “Boujee on a Budget” tour, included multiple shows at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium and Mathews' first arena performance in Birmingham, and it sold more than 250,000 tickets in the process, per Eye On Annapolis. “Not What I Ordered” represents a leap beyond that, expanding from regional theater circuits into international arenas and mid-sized casino halls across four countries. The tour includes stops across North America, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, making it Mathews' first international tour.
“Taking the tour around the world feels unreal,” Mathews said, according to Eye On Annapolis. The new show is billed as focusing on everyday chaos, farm life, family, fame, relationships and mental health.
A Signature Audience Twist
Mathews' live shows are known for a distinctive interactive segment called “Live Confessions,” in which audience members scan a QR code at the venue to anonymously submit personal secrets that he reads and improvises on in real time. The bit grew out of his viral Instagram series “Confessions with Matt,” according to the Federal Way Performing Arts Center.
Mathews has also built out a catalog beyond live stand-up. In 2025 he released his debut full-length comedy special, “When That Thang Get Ta' Thang'n,” directly to YouTube, according to Vivid Seats. He's also released country singles including “What a War” and “Joke's On Me,” and has been working on a country-folk debut album with producer Stanton Edward and guidance from singer Jewel, per SeatGeek.
Maryland's Largest Theater-Style Venue
The HALL at Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland spans 75,000 square feet across three stories and can flex its seating up to 4,800 guests, making it the largest theater-style venue in the state, according to Visit Annapolis. The venue originally opened in February 2020 before the pandemic paused operations, then underwent a grand re-opening in December 2021 with a $10 million audio-visual and LED screen installation designed to ensure clear sightlines from all three levels.
The HALL sits inside the Live! Casino & Hotel complex in the Arundel Mills commercial district, which draws more than 14 million visitors annually as Maryland's top tourist destination, per PR Newswire. It's become a regular stop for major national comedy acts, having hosted a headlining stand-up show from Cedric the Entertainer earlier this month, as Hoodline reported.
Tickets for Mathews' February 5 show are already on sale, with tour information available at mattmathews.com, according to Eye On Annapolis.
