Wayfair plans to open a new outlet store in Dublin, Ohio, marking the online furniture giant's second physical retail foothold in Central Ohio this year. The store will operate at 6765 Dublin Center Drive, selling open-box, overstock, discontinued and returned furniture and home goods — including sofas, sectionals, bedroom furniture, dining tables, office furniture, bathroom items and home decor — all sold as-is.
An Outlet Model Built On Overstock And Returns
The Dublin location will run under Wayfair's outlet model rather than the full-service format used at its Polaris store, according to The Columbus Dispatch, with new inventory expected to arrive on a regular basis. The property sits within the Dublin Village Center commercial strip off Sawmill Road near Interstate 270, according to City of Dublin engineering records, a longtime retail corridor where large tenant spaces have been subdivided among municipal and commercial occupants for years. Before Wayfair's arrival, the building briefly served as a temporary branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, the newspaper notes.
Nationally, Wayfair's outlet stores are stocked with open-box, overstock and returned merchandise that starts around 50% off standard online prices, with markdowns deepening the longer an item sits unsold, according to WFMY News 2. Outlets typically take in four to five truckloads of merchandise each week, keeping the sales floor mix in constant rotation. Everything sold is final, with no manufacturer warranties, though The MoCo Show reports that Wayfair Outlet locations still accept returns on purchases originally made through wayfair.com, along with a 48-hour window to flag defective appliances.
Part Of A Broader Brick-And-Mortar Bet
Wayfair opened five new outlet stores and two luxury Perigold stores in 2025 alone, part of an aggressive multi-brand physical retail push disclosed in the company's 2025 Form 10-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company ranked #46 on the National Retail Federation's 2026 Top 100 Retailers list, generating $10.97 billion in U.S. retail sales last year as it shifts away from a digital-only model, according to Anglera.
Beyond Dublin, Wayfair is opening new retail and outlet locations in Cincinnati, Ohio; Princeton, New Jersey; Westchester, New York; and Denver, Colorado, according to GuruFocus. Locally, the new outlet joins an already established field of home-goods discount shops, including an Arhaus Outlet in Hilliard, an IKEA In-Store Outlet at Polaris and a Ballard Designs and Frontgate Outlet in West Chester, according to Ohio Outlet Locations.
Following Wayfair's Polaris Debut
The Dublin outlet follows Wayfair's first Ohio full-format store, which opened June 18 at 1551 Gemini Place near Polaris Fashion Place, filling a 70,000-square-foot building that once housed Art Van Furniture off Interstate 71, as Hoodline's coverage of the Polaris opening detailed. That store carried furniture, mattresses, appliances, decor and other home goods, with many items available for customers to take home the same day, and marked its grand opening with a celebration from June 26 through June 28. Wayfair had first announced plans for the Polaris location back in November 2025.
At the Polaris grand-opening celebration, Wayfair's Jon Blotner told The Columbus Dispatch, "Columbus is going to be one of Wayfair's best markets." Blotner said he expects the company to continue expanding its physical retail presence with more stores over the next year, a forecast the Dublin project already appears to bear out.
From Online-Only Retailer To Storefronts Nationwide
Wayfair's push into brick-and-mortar retail marks a dramatic pivot for a company built entirely online. The retailer got its start in August 2002 as CSN Stores, a collection of more than 200 niche e-commerce sites, before consolidating under the single Wayfair brand in September 2011 and going public on the New York Stock Exchange in 2014, per Anglera. It didn't test physical stores until 2022, when it launched specialty pop-ups for its AllModern and Joss & Main brands, later opening its first full-scale Wayfair flagship in Wilmette, Illinois, in May 2024, according to HomePage News.
Hiring Underway, But No Firm Opening Date Yet
Wayfair's website says grand-opening details for the Dublin outlet "will be announced soon," though hours and a phone number for the store had not been posted as of this week. The company has, however, already begun hiring for retail sales, receiving, visual merchandising and furniture assembly positions ahead of the launch. That staffing push mirrors Wayfair's wider physical retail expansion, which recently brought the company's first Pennsylvania store to Pittsburgh's North Hills as well.
