Storefront buildouts, live embroidery machines, and a DJ spinning game-day anthems are replacing the usual mall storefronts at Orchard Mall this weekend, as more than 45 women-owned small businesses set up shop for a two-day sports-themed market. The “Sundays Are For Detroit” event runs Saturday and Sunday with ticketed entry windows from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. both days, giving Metro Detroit sports fans a boutique alternative to big-box shopping just as football season ramps up.
The market is held at Memoirs By Pareik, an event space inside Orchard Mall in West Bloomfield Township that opened earlier this summer and is co-owned by Kendra Pack and Tony Camilleri, according to Greater West Bloomfield Civic Center TV. It was designed as a venue for private celebrations and community gatherings in Oakland County, and this weekend it doubles as a sports-retail showcase. As ClickOnDetroit reports, vendors are offering everything from custom Detroit sports-themed scarves to illustrated merchandise and themed drinks.
Founder Ashley Crowder launched See You Sunday Events after first building her entrepreneurial footing with the charm-bar company Luxe Links Michigan and co-founding the female sports fan community Woodward Girls Club, according to the Redefining Her Game Podcast. She developed the event platform while working full-time in medical sales and managing her family, per the same account. Crowder told ClickOnDetroit that “the community has been missing and wanting sports-specific markets,” adding that she sees “a niche for sports-specific markets” that traditional retail hasn't filled.
Vendors Say They're Seeing Their Best Sales Yet
Crowder also said small businesses are “getting forgotten amid big-box brands,” and according to ClickOnDetroit, she reports that participating vendors have achieved some of their largest sales to date at her markets. The West Bloomfield event follows a smaller test run, See You Sunday Events held at The Mall at Partridge Creek in Clinton Township back in January, expanding the pop-up format from Macomb County into Oakland County.
Saturday and Sunday feature distinct vendor lineups, with game-day hair styling from Drybar and local catering from Ark Burgers rotating in alongside the more than 45 small businesses, per Metro.Detroiter. Synergy Jewelry is running a custom Detroit-themed Italian charm bar, letting shoppers build their own game-day accessories on site. Tickets for both days are available through Eventbrite.
A PWHL Detroit Player Joins the Sunday Lineup
The market's marquee moment comes Sunday, when the event features a live podcast taping with PWHL Detroit forward Taylor Gerrard. The team is the Professional Women's Hockey League's ninth expansion franchise, officially announced in May and set to begin play at Little Caesars Arena for the 2026–27 season, according to the PWHL. Hockey pioneer Manon Rhéaume, the first woman to play in an NHL exhibition game, was named the franchise's general manager in May after four exhibition tour games in Detroit drew a combined 53,586 fans.
The timing lines up with a broader surge in interest around women's sports. Women made up between 42% and 46% of the total U.S. football fanbase, according to S&P Global, a trend Hoodline previously explored in its report on Lions gear's fashion glow-up. An August Nielsen Fan Insights report cited by The GIST found women accounted for 9 million of the roughly 16 million new U.S. sports fans added in 2025, while total ad spend in women's sports grew 120% from 2022 to 2026.
Part of a Wider Pattern in Detroit Sports Retail
West Bloomfield's market arrives amid a broader push by Detroit sports entities to blend retail with fan engagement. Hoodline reported this month that the Detroit Pistons bundled home opener tickets with vendor table space at a sneaker trade show, part of a growing pattern of franchises leaning on small-business showcases as fan-acquisition tools. Whether PWHL Detroit or other regional teams eventually formalize partnerships with women-owned brands like the ones at Orchard Mall remains an open question for the market's organizers and local sports franchises alike.
