One of New York’s most talked-about cocktail bars is making a brief, boozy landing in West Hollywood, bringing six wildly food-inspired drinks to the Sunset Strip for two nights only. Double Chicken Please will take over Ardor next week, giving Los Angeles drinkers a short window to sample the Lower East Side bar’s famously unconventional style without booking a flight to Manhattan.
According to Eater LA, the pop-up will run next Thursday and Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Ardor in The West Hollywood EDITION. Bar seats will be first come, first served, while guests who want dinner can book a table through OpenTable.
Food-Inspired Cocktails Come To The Sunset Strip
Double Chicken Please is built around the idea of turning familiar dishes into cocktails, a design-heavy approach the bar describes as “hacking” traditional food and drink. Co-founders GN Chan and Faye Chen launched the concept after years of working in cocktail bars and began with a traveling pop-up before opening the permanent Lower East Side location in 2020, according to the bar’s official history.
Among the drinks planned for Ardor are the Tomajito, made with tomato vine, tomatillo, mint and makrut lime leaf; the Papaya Salad, combining tequila with fish sauce, tamarind, kumquat, cherry tomato and coconut; and the DMV, a gin-and-vodka drink built with olive, fennel and makrut lime leaf. The Dorayaki takes inspiration from the Japanese confection with bourbon, amontillado sherry, red bean, corn, barley tea and lychee.
A collaborative starters menu will accompany the drinks, including Double Chicken Please’s hot honey, giving the takeover a little food to go with all that liquid experimentation. The New York Post has described the bar as a magnet for cocktail obsessives, chefs, television food personalities, musicians and fashion-world regulars, which is a fairly crowded guest list for a two-night bar residency.
Walk-Ins For Cocktails, Reservations For Dinner
Ardor’s bar will operate as the easier entry point for the takeover, but availability is not guaranteed once the lines start forming. Dinner reservations can be made through OpenTable, while Ardor’s own site lists the venue at 9040 West Sunset Boulevard and identifies it as a vegetable-forward restaurant led by chef Patricia Lalu.
The collaboration arrives with Double Chicken Please still carrying serious international cocktail credentials. The World’s 50 Best Bars ranking says the bar debuted at No. 6 globally in 2022, topped the North American list in 2023, and currently sits at No. 41 in the world; its 2026 North American ranking places it at No. 35.
For Los Angeles, this is the pop-up version of a destination bar rather than a permanent New York transplant, so the schedule is deliberately tight. The drinks disappear after Friday night, leaving Angelenos with two chances to decide whether a cocktail that tastes like papaya salad is brilliant, bizarre or somehow both.
