
A woman was killed and another driver seriously injured after a wrong-way head-on crash early Saturday on U.S. Route 33 in Violet Township, turning a stretch of Fairfield County highway into a nighttime emergency scene.
Troopers were called to the crash near Allen Road shortly before 1 a.m., according to WSYX. Investigators said 28-year-old Bailey Johnson was traveling east in the westbound lanes when she collided head-on with a driver traveling in the correct direction.
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was taken to Grant Medical Center in Columbus with serious injuries, though authorities have not released that person's identity or condition beyond the initial report.
Investigation Continues Near Allen Road
The Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office are continuing to investigate the crash. Officials have not publicly said what caused Johnson to enter the wrong-way lanes or whether any other factors contributed to the collision.
