A 23-year-old man was stabbed in the face and hand near Barclays Center Monday night, in an attack police say happened just before 9:30 p.m. on Atlantic Avenue. He is expected to recover, but the relationship between him and his attacker remains unknown.
According to News12 Brooklyn, the man was stabbed in the left hand and the left side of his face before being taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Sources told the outlet the altercation started as a domestic dispute, though it remains unclear what relationship, if any, existed between the victim and his attacker. The hospital, located in Park Slope, is an ACS-certified Level 2 Trauma Center that treats more than 100,000 emergency department patients each year, according to background from Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian.
A Precinct With Jurisdiction Over One Of Brooklyn's Busiest Transit Hubs
The NYPD's 78th Precinct, headquartered in Park Slope, holds primary law-enforcement responsibility over Barclays Center and the surrounding Atlantic Terminal commercial district, a jurisdiction that was the subject of a 2012 proposal to redraw precinct boundaries, though City Council approval was still required, per Patch. Atlantic Avenue–Barclays Center itself is a major transfer point, with the southbound Q line and several other services, making it one of Brooklyn's busiest transit hubs, as Hoodline has previously reported.

Part Of A Pattern Of Sharp-Weapon Violence Near The Arena
Monday's stabbing is the latest in a string of violent incidents involving sharp weapons around the Atlantic Avenue corridor. In Good Samaritan slashed on Q train, a 27-year-old passenger was slashed in the hand with a pair of scissors on July 22 while trying to break up a dispute as a train entered the Atlantic Avenue–Barclays Center station. And in March 2025, a 27-year-old man was fatally stabbed during an altercation near Atlantic and Flatbush avenues outside Barclays Center, a case that led to second-degree murder charges against an 18-year-old suspect.
Other recent violence near the arena has included incidents involving weapons. A 68-year-old man was punched near Atlantic and Flatbush avenues and suffered fractures and lacerations. And in August, a 20-year-old defendant was convicted of attempted assault and weapons charges after pushing a 33-year-old man onto the subway tracks following a December 2024 dispute at the same transit complex.
