A 26-year-old man was found dead in an alleyway near Elberon Place and Quail Street in Albany over the weekend after police responded to reports of shots fired in the area. Officers had first searched a nearby residence where the shots were reportedly aimed, but found no one there before locating the victim nearby.

Officers then located the 26-year-old man in a nearby alleyway, where he was found dead from injuries sustained in the shooting.
Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was shot while at a residence on Elberon Place, per the same report. His name has not been released, as police say notifications to next of kin have not yet been completed.
Detectives Seek Public's Help as Case Remains Open
The Albany Police Department Detective Division is asking anyone with information about the homicide to come forward, and has listed a tip line at (518) 462-8039. The department describes the investigation as active and ongoing, according to the station's report.

Same Stretch of Albany Has Seen Deadly Violence Before
A 2021 Albany Homicide In May 2021, 29-year-old Devin McGlothan of East Greenbush was found shot on the 200 block of Quail Street between Western Avenue and Elberon Place and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to WAMC. That case was reported at the time as the city's sixth homicide in May 2021 alone, and no arrests had been reported as officials continued their investigation, per the same outlet.
A separate 2021 report noted six shooting deaths in Albany that month and nine homicides for the year. That earlier account also identified the Quail Street victim as McGlothan, who was fatally shot.
No connection between the current homicide and that earlier case has been established. The circumstances, timeline, and identity surrounding this weekend's shooting remain under investigation as detectives continue to seek information from the public.
