Leasing has officially opened for 336 luxury apartments at The Village at Tuxedo Reserve, the town-center component of a 1,200-acre community tucked into New York's Hudson Valley. The residential building, known as 5 Bridle Trail Road, marks the first housing phase of the Village, with move-ins expected next month and a seasonal ice rink slated to open this fall.
According to a prnewswire.com release, Related Companies began the first phase of leasing on September 14, and the apartments come in one- and two-bedroom layouts ranging from 700 to 1,400 square feet. The three-story mixed-use building was designed by Aurae, and, as New York YIMBY reports, Aurae is the luxury division of Suffern-based Aufgang Architects. The publication also notes that 5 Bridle Trail Road includes ground-floor retail and dining space and is anchored by a timber-framed destination food market.
One detail worth clearing up: New York YIMBY's original headline placed the project in Tuxedo, New Jersey, but Jacob Felson said Tuxedo is actually in New York state, not New Jersey — and every official and developer source in this dossier confirms the community sits in New York's Hudson Valley, between Harriman State Park and Sterling Forest.
Market Square Anchors the Village's Commercial Core
The 336 apartments sit within Market Square, which is planned as the commercial core of the Village. Per thelocalgirl.com, Market Square is expected to include a 7,000-square-foot food market alongside snack bars, cafes, a stage house, and an ice rink. The broader Village is also planned with a village green, a town square, a clock tower, and outdoor performance space, according to villageattuxedoreserve.com.
The developer's vision leans heavily on year-round programming — farmers' markets, curated events, and the kind of experiential shopping and dining meant to draw visitors beyond just Tuxedo Reserve residents. The site describes the whole project as a town-in-country destination combining retail, recreation, and natural surroundings.
Resort-Style Amenities and October Move-Ins
Residential amenities planned for the rental building include a resort-style pool, a fitness center with basketball and squash courts, tennis and pickleball facilities, a dog park, a playground, resident lounges, and coworking space. The development also provides direct access to hiking and biking trails, with the surrounding preserved woodlands covering more than 70,000 acres.
First move-ins are expected in October, and the skating rink is expected to open this fall, with the developer reporting that shops, dining, and the rest of Market Square will roll out through the winter and spring. Those timelines remain as announced; whether they hold has not yet been confirmed.
A Decades-Old Vision Finally Taking Shape
Tuxedo Reserve, formerly known as Tuxedo Farms, occupies a 1,200-acre property and is planned for more than 1,600 homes in total. Related Companies and Lennar broke ground on the community in May 2025, and Lennar is building the single-family homes and townhomes that make up the ownership side of the project. Related executive vice president Greg Gushee has said Tuxedo Reserve started with a vision over 40 years ago.
Lennar has already begun welcoming homeowners to West Terrace, described as Tuxedo Reserve's first hamlet, with the initial residents arriving there in June. Together with this month's apartment leasing launch, the milestones suggest the long-gestating project is finally shifting from groundbreaking renderings to move-in day.
