A 72-year-old woman has died after a semi-truck struck her while she was trying to cross Antelope Boulevard in Red Bluff on Monday. Police officers were called to the 445 block of Antelope Boulevard after a report that a semi-truck had struck a pedestrian, and the woman later succumbed to her injuries.
According to KRCR, the truck driver was traveling east on Antelope Boulevard when the woman attempted to cross the street in front of the vehicle. Police said the driver applied the brakes and attempted to stop, but the truck struck her before it could come to a halt. Emergency personnel began life-saving measures at the scene before she was transported to a local hospital, where she later died.
Police said alcohol, drugs and speed were not factors in the crash. Investigators have released no further details, and the report notes the investigation remains ongoing.
