An 87-year-old man has died after a teenage driver struck him in a parking lot on San Antonio's Northwest Side, police said. The crash happened Monday morning near Babcock Road, and the man was initially rushed to a hospital in critical condition before he was pronounced dead.
According to KSAT, the teenage driver was searching for a parking spot and did not see the man walking through the lot, according to the San Antonio Police Department. Investigators say the man had just left a routine follow-up appointment when he was struck.
Driver Remained at the Scene
The teenage driver stayed at the scene after the crash, per SAPD. Police have not released the driver's age, the man's identity, or the name of the business where the parking lot is located, and the station's report notes that additional information was not immediately available.
The man's cause of death beyond the collision has not been detailed. SAPD has confirmed only that he died at the hospital after being struck, and the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.

That incident differs from the Northwest Side case in one key way: San Antonio police say the teenage driver involved in Monday's crash did not flee, but remained at the scene. No charges or citations have been reported in the San Antonio case as of Monday, and police have not said whether any are expected.
