A 95-year-old showed that turning 95 is no reason to stay grounded. The celebrant went skydiving to mark the milestone in dramatic fashion.
FOX 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth reported on a 95th-birthday skydive.
A Milestone Birthday With a Twist
Reaching 95 is itself worth celebrating, and the celebrant marked the occasion by taking to the skies.
Another nonagenarian to celebrate a birthday this way was Ivan Smith, a Korean War veteran from San Marcos, who marked his own 95th birthday by skydiving for the first time in his life, according to fox7austin.com. Smith, who served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War, is also known for building a two-man Scorpion helicopter and, back in the 1960s, his own two-man submarine, the outlet reports. He said he hopes to return in five years to celebrate his 100th birthday alongside his family.
A Growing Trend Among Nonagenarian Thrill-Seekers
Other nonagenarians have also chosen a free fall over a quiet celebration. In a separate case flagged as unverified by Hoodline's reporting standards, a report from WV News described a 95-year-old Braxton County veteran completing a first parachute jump since his Army service during the Korean War, celebrating his birthday with the tandem dive in West Virginia.
