A newly remodeled Dunkin’ in Alexandria’s Van Dorn Station Shopping Center reopens Saturday, and the first 100 eligible customers—Virginia residents age 18 or older who live in the Alexandria area—will walk away with a coupon book good for four free medium hot or iced coffees every month for 14 months. The shop at 504-D S. Van Dorn Street closed last month for interior remodeling and a repaved parking lot, and it comes back to life with a ribbon-cutting, giveaways and a check for a local nonprofit.
What to Expect at the Reopening
According to ALXnow, the grand reopening runs from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, with a ribbon-cutting set for 9:45 a.m. The event includes free giveaways and samples, along with an appearance from Sprinkles, and the coupon-book promotion is open to Virginia residents 18 and older who live in the Alexandria area. Coupons can be redeemed only at the Van Dorn Street location.
Franchisee Andy Cabral, who owns 27 Dunkin’ locations across Virginia, is scheduled to present a $1,000 check to ALIVE!, an Alexandria-based nonprofit, during the event. The remodeled 2,000-square-foot shop now includes indoor seating, free Wi-Fi and digital customer checkout kiosks. Once open, it will run daily from 5 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.
Part of a Broader Pattern Across Northern Virginia
The free-coffee-for-a-year giveaway isn't unique to Alexandria. Similar promotions have accompanied other Virginia Dunkin’ remodels this year, with the first 100 guests or customers repeatedly rewarded at reopening events, per a report by Patch.com. Other next-generation locations have also leaned on modern touches like digital kiosks and complimentary Wi-Fi, according to InsideNoVa's coverage of other grand openings.
Charitable giving has been a recurring feature of these ceremonies, too. At the Sudley Road Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins reopening in Manassas on March 14, franchisees Andy and David Cabral were set to present a $500 donation to House of Mercy food pantry during the ceremony. That remodeled restaurant featured complimentary Wi-Fi, a front-facing bakery case, a cold-beverage tap system and a mobile-pickup area — echoing the kind of upgrades now on display at the Alexandria store.
Dunkin’ has run comparable promotions elsewhere in the region as well. InsideNoVa reported that grand reopenings for two next-generation restaurants in Fairfax and Woodbridge each surprised their first 100 guests with the Free Coffee for a Year promotion, with attendees also able to pick up free coffee and merchandise during the events.
