A new dumpling spot is headed for Sacramento’s Arden Fair mall, taking over the space left empty by Seasons 52 more than a year ago. Xin Tai Dumpling House is expected to serve soup dumplings, steamed buns and pot stickers when it opens, though mall officials say there’s no firm date yet beyond a general window of early 2027.
Dumpling House Targets 2027 Debut
According to a mall spokesman cited by the Sacramento Bee, Xin Tai Dumpling House plans to open in early 2027, though no specific opening date has been set. The restaurant is expected to serve dim sum dishes including soup dumplings, steamed buns and pot stickers, alongside a broader menu that includes stir-fry, tofu, seafood and dessert dishes, per the same report. The project was also reported by bizjournals.com, which confirmed Xin Tai Dumpling House will occupy the former Seasons 52 space at the mall.
Nathan Spradlin, Arden Fair’s marketing director, said the restaurant will offer a shared-dining menu geared toward date nights and family outings, the station’s report noted. That framing suggests a concept built around communal plates rather than individual entrees, fitting with the dim sum-style dishes described for the space.
Seasons 52’s Sudden Exit
The space has sat empty since Seasons 52 abruptly and permanently closed its Arden Fair restaurant in May 2025, according to sacbee.com. The closure affected 85 employees at the location, which sat at 1689 Arden Way, Suite 1065, and had operated at the mall since it opened in January 2013. A California layoff notice cited “business conditions and distribution challenges in the area” as the reason for shutting the restaurant down, per that report.
