Firefighters pulled a person from a second-floor balcony Wednesday morning after flames tore through a two-story apartment building in the 2100 block of Park Springs Circle in Arlington, escalating the call to a second alarm before crews managed to keep the fire from consuming the entire structure.
The Arlington Fire Department responded around 8:45 a.m. after receiving multiple calls about the blaze, according to NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth. The first crews on scene saw smoke and flames pouring from the second floor of the building, and the call was escalated to a second alarm.
Firefighters rescued one person from a second-floor balcony, the fire department said, and that individual was transported to a local hospital. Their condition remains unknown, per the same NBC 5 report. No firefighters were injured during the operation.
Dispatchers and Crews Worked in Tandem to Contain the Blaze
The rescue and containment effort relied on close coordination between 911 dispatchers and the crews on the ground, according to the Arlington Fire Department. That teamwork allowed responders to perform the balcony rescue while simultaneously working to keep the fire from spreading across the rest of the two-story building.
The Pantego Fire Department assisted at the scene, the fire department confirmed. The American Red Cross also responded to help displaced residents, though the exact number receiving housing assistance has not been released.

Multi-alarm apartment fires have become a familiar, if unwelcome, pattern for Arlington crews. Hoodline previously documented a busy stretch of major structure fires earlier this year, including a three-alarm apartment fire on February 23 that displaced roughly two dozen residents and a three-alarm commercial blaze on March 2. A three-alarm fire near Randy Drive and Park Springs Boulevard on Dec. 3 destroyed multiple units and displaced 15 residents, according to WFAA.
Displacement After the Fire
Fire investigators have not yet determined what sparked Wednesday's blaze, and the cause remains under investigation. Residents displaced by the fire will need to find new housing in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Nationally, apartment fire deaths fell 67 percent between 1980 and 2024, according to National Fire Protection Association research — a long-term trend that stands in contrast to the sudden disruption facing whoever called the 2100 block of Park Springs Circle home this week.
