A 32-year-old man died at the scene after he was struck while trying to cross the westbound lanes of Interstate 30 in Arlington on Sunday night, in a crash that shut down the highway for hours. Investigators said he was walking across the freeway from south to north when a westbound Chevrolet Malibu hit him.
Arlington police responded to the crash at 8:41 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-30 near Center Street, according to FOX 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth. The collision forced a temporary closure of all westbound lanes of the interstate, and traffic was diverted at the Center Street exit for about three hours as officers worked the scene.
The driver of the Malibu stayed at the scene after the crash and cooperated with investigators, the station's report notes. No criminal charges have been filed against the driver, per the same account.
