Adrien Arocho, 24, was arraigned in Suffolk County in the death of Yolandus Darrell Pratt, 34, and was held without bail. He is scheduled to return to court Oct. 6, according to accounts from Patch and Daily Voice.
Case status
Arocho faces second-degree murder in connection with the July 5 death. He was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in Gouldsboro, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 3 after leaving New York, then extradited to Suffolk County, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office accounts reported by Daily Voice. Defense attorney Raymond Baierlein represents him, Patch reported.
Prosecution account
Prosecutors allege that Pratt was riding a bicycle through the Bay Shore Long Island Rail Road station parking lot when he became involved in a verbal dispute with Arocho and a 17-year-old boy. They allege that Arocho used a knife against Pratt and that both defendants continued the attack after he fell from the bicycle. The account was reported by Patch and Daily Voice.
Police response
Suffolk County police officers on patrol found Pratt unconscious and bleeding in the station’s north parking lot at 6 Railroad Plaza at about 2:33 a.m. He was taken to South Shore University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. News 12 Long Island reported the police identification of Pratt and the homicide investigation, while Patch reported that an autopsy attributed his death to the stab wounds.
The 17-year-old co-defendant also faces second-degree murder and is scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 21 before Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen Kerr, according to prosecutors as reported by Patch.
