A Laramie County arrest log lists Gust Martinez, 48, of Lakewood, Colorado, with 10 recommended charges after a Monday incident at Cheyenne Country Club. The log lists alleged offenses including property destruction exceeding $1,000, fleeing or eluding, reckless endangerment, and felon in possession of a weapon, according to Cap City News.
Police were called to the golf course at 800 Stinner Road around 5 p.m. after a report of a truck there, KGAB reported. The blue GMC Sierra went through a fence and left the course. Officers tried to stop Martinez, who continued driving through Cheyenne; Cap City News also described the pursuit as moving at a crawl. Cowboy State Daily’s witness reporting likewise characterized the pursuit as slow-moving.
The pursuit ended at West 25th Street and Pioneer Avenue, where Martinez stopped, according to the police account reported by Cap City News. Police said he resisted officers before being taken into custody. A search of the truck reportedly found a rifle with a modified stock; KGAB reported Martinez is a convicted felon and cannot legally possess a firearm.
The arrest log lists the other recommended charges as failure to maintain a lane, a one-way violation, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to stop at a red light, interference with a peace officer, and no vehicle registration, in addition to the offenses listed above. KGAB reported that police did not believe drugs or alcohol contributed to the incident. The arrest-log notice says those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted and that charges may change after review by the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office, according to Cap City News.
