Thursday night is expected to be mostly cloudy, with a low near 77. There are no watches, warnings or advisories posted for the Austin area.
Weekend Keeps The Summer Setting
Friday is forecast to reach 98, followed by highs around 99 Saturday and Sunday. Monday is expected to reach about 98, with overnight lows generally in the mid-70s and little meaningful relief from the heat.
With heat index values topping 100 degrees, outdoor plans will be more comfortable early or late in the day. Anyone spending time outside should take breaks from the heat, drink plenty of water and keep an eye on people and pets who are more vulnerable to high temperatures.
Rain Chances Build Tuesday Night
The forecast takes a more unsettled turn Tuesday, with a 31% chance of rain in the afternoon.
The shift follows the extended stretch of near-99-degree highs outlined in an earlier Hoodline forecast. A deep trough and associated front could affect the area by the middle of next week.
