Tuesday will stay sunny with light southeast winds, and temperatures will climb from the low 80s early to around 100 by late afternoon. The National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio office expects Wednesday to reach about 100 degrees, followed by highs near 99 Thursday and 100 Friday.
Austin’s rain chances remain low, although an isolated shower or thunderstorm could develop near the I-35 corridor late Tuesday afternoon or evening. Most of the area should remain hot and dry, with the better daily storm chances staying closer to the Coastal Plains.
Small Relief Arrives Monday
The weekend keeps the furnace running, with a high near 100 Saturday and 99 Sunday under mostly sunny skies. Monday brings a slightly lower high near 98 and a small chance of rain showers or thunderstorms, but it is not shaping up as a major pattern change.
Overnight lows will only dip to roughly 78 or 79 degrees through the weekend, offering limited relief after sunset. With no watches, warnings or advisories posted for the Austin area, the practical heat plan is still the same: drink water, seek shade or air conditioning, and check on people and pets who may struggle in the heat.
Austin Public Library and Parks facilities can serve as cooling centers during normal operating hours, according to the City of Austin. Residents should check operating hours before heading out, especially as conditions and available locations can change.
