WBAL-TV identified Martinez as the designer of the themed jersey. Martinez was born in Corinto, El Salvador, studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art and founded Corinto Gallery in September 2013, naming the studio after his hometown, according to WBAL-TV.
WBAL-TV also reported on Martinez's broader regional profile, including “Gangsta George,” a work from his DC Series depicting George Washington with a D.C. flag bandana over his mouth as a protest against the district's lack of congressional representation. The report said the design has been publicly worn by D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and that Martinez was a vendor at a Commanders pregame market.
