A 41-year-old woman from Surrey, British Columbia is facing multiple charges after allegedly stealing a pickup truck from a parking area at the Gorge Amphitheatre, fleeing on foot when officers closed in, and hiding inside a trailer before a police dog helped bring her into custody. The Moses Lake Police Department identified the suspect as Sarah Poole in an official statement.
According to AppleValleyNewsNow.com, law enforcement got word Sunday that a woman had allegedly stolen a pickup truck from the venue's parking area. A Moses Lake officer soon found the truck high-centered nearby and spotted a woman climbing out of it. Per the same report, when the officer called out to her, she responded with a middle finger before taking off on foot toward a nearby home.
The woman ran to a nearby property and hid in a trailer, refusing to come out when officers ordered her to do so, according to the Moses Lake Police Department.
K9 Rex Ends the Standoff
When the woman refused to come out despite officers' orders, the department's K-9 unit was called in. K9 Rex, working with Officer Zook, entered the trailer and helped bring her into custody, the department said in its statement. She was treated for injuries related to the dog bite before being booked into the Grant County Jail, per AppleValleyNewsNow.com's reporting.
She now faces theft of a motor vehicle, attempted residential burglary, second-degree vehicle prowl, resisting arrest, and first-degree criminal trespass, according to the same report. Why Moses Lake Officers Were at the Gorge
The arrest happened near the Gorge Amphitheatre. That raises an obvious question: why were Moses Lake city officers working at a venue outside their jurisdiction? The report says officers were working at the Gorge and that Live Nation reimburses their overtime costs.
Officers from several agencies assist the Grant County Sheriff's Office at the venue, while overtime officers and deputies handle traffic control and law enforcement during concerts.
Poole was booked at the Grant County Jail as the case moves forward.
