Baltimore is waking up to a crisp start Thursday, with overnight lows in the lower 50s east of I-95 and a stratocumulus deck during the day. The high should reach about 68, but a northeast breeze with gusts near 23 mph will make the afternoon feel sharper than the number suggests.
Rain is not expected Thursday, and skies are expected to clear tonight as temperatures fall to around 53. The National Weather Service says Friday will bring more sunshine, temperatures in the lower 70s at lower elevations, and another round of north winds gusting to around 23 mph.
Weekend Warmth Comes With Some Wind
Saturday looks mild, with a high near 75. Rain chances could increase if the coastal storm tracks closer.
Sunday is expected to be part of a breezy, warmer, mostly dry weekend. Forecasters say the weekend forecast remains somewhat uncertain because of a coastal storm developing offshore, which could bring higher rain and wind chances, especially east of Interstate 95.
Coastal Flooding Remains A South-of-Baltimore Concern
Coastal flood warnings remain in effect for Annapolis and other locations south of Baltimore into Friday, while advisories cover several nearby tidal areas. The weather service says water-level impacts farther north along the Bay, including Baltimore, are expected to be lower as northerly winds push water away from the area.
Warmup Builds Into Next Week
The cooler stretch will not last long. Much warmer and dry conditions are expected during the middle of next week.
For Thursday and Friday, a light jacket and some caution with loose outdoor items should do the trick. Breezy conditions are in the forecast, even as afternoon temperatures climb.
