A similar scenario played out farther east in Garland, where a 12-year-old boy riding an electric scooter was struck by a white utility-style work truck while crossing in a marked crosswalk at North Garland Avenue and Apollo Road. That crash happened at approximately 8:30 a.m. on a Saturday, and the driver briefly stopped before fleeing south on North Garland Avenue, according to NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth. The boy sustained significant injuries but was reported in stable condition.
