The reception falls during the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Annual Legislative Conference, and this year's 55th conference runs September 16 through 20 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center under the theme “Rooted, Ready, & Rising,” according to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation.
A 50th Anniversary Backdrop
This year's conference also marks the 50th anniversary of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, which was founded in 1976 as an independent, nonpartisan public policy research and educational institute, per the Washington Informer. That milestone adds context to the week's gatherings.
Braveboy is Prince George's County executive after winning a special election to complete the term of former County Executive Angela Alsobrooks following Alsobrooks' election to the U.S. Senate. She previously served as the county's State's Attorney. The 2026 reception is being held at MGM National Harbor.

Braveboy enters this year's reception fresh off winning the Democratic primary on June 23, securing her party's nomination for county executive of Maryland's second-largest jurisdiction, according to WUSA9.
