Weekend Rain Chances Rise
Thursday brings isolated to scattered showers, with highs from the mid-80s on the coast to near 90 degrees inland. Friday stays warm near 88 degrees, with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms later in the day.
Saturday brings a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms, while Sunday marks the bigger shift with storms likely and a 70% chance of rain. The wetter pattern may continue Monday and Tuesday, with daily showers and scattered storms.
High Rip Current Risk Continues
Beachgoers should take the surf seriously: The National Weather Service has a high rip-current risk in effect for Northeast Florida beaches through late Thursday night, along with rough surf and strong onshore winds. The Jacksonville office advises swimming near a lifeguard and never fighting a rip current directly.
If caught in one, relax and float, then swim parallel to the shoreline when possible. Anyone unable to escape should face the shore and wave or call for help.
