The Brewers are throwing open the gates for two free community watch parties as the club chases a deep October run, with Game 3 of the National League Division Series set for a Milwaukee celebration on Tuesday, Oct. 6, and a possible Game 4 gathering in Greendale the next night. Admission to both is free, and fans are being told to arrive early and bring lawn chairs and blankets to settle in for the game.
The Game 3 watch party will take over Davidson Park on the Harley-Davidson campus at 3725 W. Juneau Ave. in Milwaukee, according to WISN. The game will play out on two large outdoor screens, and the event will also include food trucks, roaming hot dog vendors, an onsite bar, tailgate games and a DJ. As WTMJ reported, fans can expect a mobile arcade with MLB The Show and other baseball-themed games, plus sign making, pennant coloring, onsite T-shirt screen printing and Brewers-themed photo opportunities.
Mascots and the Sausages Headline Davidson Park
Bernie Brewer, Barrelman, the Famous Racing Sausages and the Brewers Dance Crew are all expected to make appearances at the Davidson Park event, per the same WISN report. Fans have been encouraged to wear Brewers blue and yellow for the occasion. The club is framing the gathering as a chance for supporters to cheer on the team together during a postseason road game, according to WTMJ.
Greendale on Standby for a Potential Game 4
If the series stretches to a fourth game, a second watch party is planned for Wednesday, Oct. 7, in downtown Greendale near Dia Café at 6601 Northway. That event will similarly feature two large outdoor screens along with food trucks, an onsite bar, games and other fan activities, WISN reports. WTMJ adds that giveaways and interactive activities are also planned for the Greendale crowd.
Because the Greendale watch party would draw a crowd downtown, the parking lot behind Dia Café and a portion of Main Street are set to close to accommodate attendees, according to WTMJ. Bernie Brewer, Barrelman, the Famous Racing Sausages and 4-1-Force are scheduled to appear there as well, per WISN's report.
A Historic Regular Season Sets the Stage
The watch parties follow a regular season in which Milwaukee finished 103-59, the best record in Major League Baseball, while setting a franchise record for victories and reaching 100 wins for the first time, WISN reports. That performance earned the Brewers the National League's No. 1 seed, a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the postseason. Milwaukee will face the winner of the Wild Card Series between the San Diego Padres and Chicago Cubs.
The team's return to the postseason spotlight isn't new for Brewers fans this fall. On Sept. 22, the club held a Rally for October fan event and watch party outside American Family Field, according to Spectrum News 1. That gathering at the UW Credit Union Plaza featured Brewers fans watching the team play the Phillies, along with live music, food trucks, giveaways and appearances by prospects Brady Ebel, Trey Ebel, Kyle Jones and Sawyer Strosnider, plus former players Corey Hart and Geoff Jenkins. The first 2,500 fans at that event received a free commemorative postseason T-shirt.
