A 42-year-old man was slashed in the face and head with a broken glass bottle during a late-night argument inside a building on East Gun Hill Road in the Bronx, and the attacker is still on the loose. The assault happened around 11:30 p.m. on August 29, and police have released few details about who carried it out or why.
According to Shore News Network, the confrontation escalated inside 269 East Gun Hill Road, a location NYPD Crime Stoppers has flagged in a wanted-person bulletin posted to Facebook on September 10. Per that post, the victim was involved in a verbal dispute with an unidentified individual before the attacker slashed him and fled the scene on foot to parts unknown. The assault falls within the confines of the NYPD's 52nd Precinct.
Property records reviewed by PropertyShark show that 269 East Gun Hill Road sits in the Norwood section of the Bronx, inside a six-story mixed-use building with residential apartments above ground-floor storefronts, including Wash City Laundromat, according to a listing on Long Island's Best. That mix of foot traffic and late-night residential activity has made the corridor a recurring backdrop for violent incidents this year.
A Felony Charge If Police Make an Arrest
Because the attacker allegedly used a broken bottle as a weapon, the case could be prosecuted as Assault in the Second Degree under New York Penal Law § 120.05, a Class D violent felony that carries up to seven years in prison, according to a legal guide published by Lebedin Kofman LLP. No arrest has been announced, and the identity of the attacker remains unknown.

The Norwood incident is one of several sharp-object assaults reported across the Bronx in recent weeks. A separate face-slashing outside East Tremont Avenue storefronts sent a 44-year-old man to the hospital on September 3, and a subway dispute at Mt.
