Police say a dispute between two groups who knew each other led to a shooting that left a 28-year-old Greenfield man with a gunshot wound to his upper back. The confrontation began outside Caledonia and continued into the village, where shots were fired.
Officers responded around 2:45 a.m. to the area of 6 1/2 Mile Road and East Frontage Road, according to TMJ4 News. Police were initially told that the man's silver Honda Accord had been rear-ended by a vehicle that left the scene. Officers later learned that the incident involved gunfire.
Police Say Dispute Between Two Groups Led to Shooting
When officers found the man, he appeared to have a gunshot wound on the right side of his upper back, and he was taken to a hospital, TMJ4 reported. His injuries were described as not life-threatening. The report did not include an update on his condition.
Investigators said the two groups knew each other and had an altercation outside Caledonia that continued after they entered the village, according to TMJ4. Police said the incident was not random.
Investigators Found Bullet Holes and Shell Casings
Investigators found multiple bullet holes in the man's vehicle and multiple shell casings in the area, WFRV Local 5 reported. The investigation was continuing, and no suspect information had been released at the time of the report.
