A Camden County jury has convicted 39-year-old Bryan Sisco-Downs on multiple charges connected to the sexual abuse of a girl over nearly four years, with the panel returning guilty verdicts on two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, three counts of second-degree sexual assault, and two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. Prosecutors said the abuse happened on multiple occasions between December 2019 and October 2023, when the victim was between 9 and 12 years old.
According to NBC10 Philadelphia, the case dates back to October 2023, when a 12-year-old girl reported the abuse, prompting the Camden County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit and Winslow Township Police Department to open an investigation into Sisco-Downs. He was later arrested and taken to the Camden County Correctional Facility. The station reports the trial itself lasted two weeks before the jury reached its verdict.
Victim Testified About Years of Abuse
During the trial, the victim testified about the abuse she endured during her childhood, prosecutors said, according to the same outlet's report. The jury's guilty findings on all seven counts came after that testimony was presented alongside the rest of the prosecution's case.
Sisco-Downs now faces a minimum of 25 years in New Jersey state prison without the possibility of parole, and up to life in prison on each of the two first-degree aggravated sexual assault counts, the station's report notes. His sentencing has been scheduled for January 13, 2027.
How New Jersey Sentencing Law Applies
New Jersey's sentencing framework for sexual assault and criminal sexual contact cases is outlined in a manual published by the New Jersey Courts, which is designed to summarize sentencing and juvenile-disposition law across the state. Separately, New Jersey's Megan's Law, enacted on October 31, 1994, requires certain convicted sex offenders to register with law enforcement authorities, according to a report from the New Jersey Courts.
Other cases prosecuted in New Jersey and Pennsylvania in recent months show similar sentencing outcomes for aggravated sexual assault convictions. In Irvington, a jury convicted Osbourne Gooden of first-degree aggravated sexual assault and other offenses, and he was sentenced to 25 years without parole, according to the New Jersey County Prosecutors Association. In Bucks County, Shawn Burke was sentenced to 10 to 25 years in state prison after pleading guilty to multiple felony charges, per the Bucks County government. And in a federal case out of Union County, Jack Wilder was sentenced to 78 months after pleading guilty to receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Separately, the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General announced charges against Shakem T. Holmes, 23, of Edison, for endangering the welfare of a child involving the manufacture of child sexual exploitation or abuse material.
Sisco-Downs remains held pending his sentencing date in January 2027, when a judge will determine his final prison term within the range prosecutors have outlined.
