A vehicle crashed through the wall of the Lehigh Valley Educators Credit Union on Hamilton Boulevard in South Whitehall Township on Tuesday afternoon, trapping the driver until firefighters freed the person. No one inside the building was injured, and the branch closed for the rest of the day while crews secured the damaged structure.
South Whitehall Police and the Greenawalds Fire Department responded at about 2:06 p.m. after the vehicle struck the building, according to WFMZ.com. The driver was trapped in the vehicle and was later taken to EMS personnel for medical evaluation.
Crews Cut Through Wall to Reach Trapped Driver
Firefighters cut through part of the wall and removed the vehicle's driver's-side door to reach the occupant, WFMZ reported. The person was freed and transferred to EMS, but additional information about the driver's condition was not immediately available.
After the driver was removed, crews evacuated people from the credit union as a precaution and secured power while they assessed the building, according to the report.
