Rain becomes more likely Monday night, when temperatures fall to around 61 degrees. Showers could continue before 5 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a stronger chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a quarter- to half-inch of rain possible overnight.
Tuesday Looks Like The Wettest Day
Tuesday is expected to be the soggiest part of the forecast, with a 90% chance of showers and thunderstorms and a high near 66 degrees. Northeast winds will increase to 12 to 16 mph, with gusts reaching up to 26 mph.
Regional rainfall totals could reach 1 to 2 inches from Monday night through Wednesday morning. The combination of steady rain, gusty winds and chilly temperatures will make for a dreary day across the city and surrounding communities.
Cool, Damp Pattern Lingers
Wednesday brings another chance of showers, mostly cloudy skies and temperatures that may struggle to get out of the 50s. Shower chances ease Thursday, but the day still looks mostly cloudy with a high around 66 and a low near 54 Thursday night.
Friday and Saturday remain breezy with occasional shower chances, though temperatures begin a modest rebound into the upper 60s. Sunday currently looks drier and warmer, though abundant cloud cover and shower chances could persist, especially east of the Blue Ridge.
Bay Winds Pick Up
People heading onto the Chesapeake Bay should expect rougher conditions than the city forecast suggests. A Small Craft Advisory begins Monday evening and continues into Wednesday morning, while northeast winds and occasional stronger gusts may keep small-craft conditions in place through Friday.
