A man suspected of committing an armed robbery near Chinatown in July was tracked down and arrested after a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department drone spotted him fleeing on foot, guiding officers straight to him. The robbery happened on the 4300 block of Spring Mountain Road near Arville Street on July 20, and police say the aerial tracking helped ground units locate him after a brief foot chase.
According to FOX5 Vegas, LVMPD officers responded to reports of an armed robbery and deployed a drone from its growing fleet to search the area. The drone spotted a male matching the suspect's description, and a drone pilot directed patrol officers to his location as he fled on foot, according to authorities. Officers ultimately took the suspect into custody following the foot chase.
LVMPD has not publicly released the suspect's identity, age, or the specific weapon used during the robbery, and formal court charges had not been detailed as of the announcement.
