One person was hospitalized after a fight broke out at a Circle K gas station just outside DeLand on Friday evening and ended in gunfire, according to the Volusia Sheriff's Office. Deputies responded to the store on International Speedway Boulevard, a busy arterial roadway connecting DeLand and Daytona Beach, after the shots were fired.
The shooting stemmed from an altercation at the gas station, and the shooter remained at the scene. FOX 35 Orlando reported that one person was injured in the shooting. The Volusia Sheriff's Office confirmed that one person was hospitalized after the shooting at the gas station just outside DeLand.

Another Violent Weekend for Unincorporated DeLand
Friday's shooting adds to a string of gun violence in and around DeLand this year. Law enforcement arrested a Deltona man on Sept. 17 in connection with an August road rage shooting in DeLand involving a garbage truck driver, the station's report noted. Just weeks earlier, on September 1, Volusia Sheriff's deputies responded to a separate shooting in unincorporated DeLand after a homeowner shot and killed an alleged trespasser found sleeping in a laundry room, as Hoodline reported at the time. And in May, a Volusia Sheriff's deputy fatally shot a fleeing driver in a DeLand Walmart parking lot following a multi-jurisdictional chase that began downtown, a case detailed in Hoodline's earlier coverage of that deputy chase showdown.
The cluster of shootings around DeLand this year underscores how frequently county deputies have been called to violent incidents in the area's unincorporated pockets. The Circle K shooter had been arrested by Saturday.
