The Cleveland Museum of Art is turning its galleries into a salsa floor this Friday, Oct. 2, when MIX: Noche de Ritmos takes over the building from 6 to 10 p.m. for an evening built around Hispanic Heritage Month, live Latin music and a dance lesson open to anyone 21 and older with a photo ID.
The party is scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2026, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., according to clevelandart.org, which also confirms MIX is a 21-and-older event requiring photo identification at the door. The event unfolds inside the museum at 11150 East Boulevard, per clevelandartsevents.com. As Cleveland.com reports, the night is officially billed as a Latin-themed MIX event celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.
Live Music, a Salsa Lesson and DJ Sets
Headlining the music lineup is Son Gitano, described on the museum's site as one of Northeast Ohio's favorite Latin fusion party bands, complete with percussion, vocalists and a horn section. The band performs live at the museum as part of the night's entertainment, the same source notes.
Before the band takes over, Viva Dance Studio instructors lead a salsa lesson at 6:45 p.m., giving guests a crash course before the dancing kicks into gear. DJ LOLO bookends the evening, blending Latin house with classic and regional sounds to keep the night moving between live sets, the museum's event page states.
Themed Drinks and Art Access Round Out the Night
Bon Appétit will sell themed food and drink items, including cocktails, beer and wine, for guests looking to eat and drink while they mingle. The event also gives attendees access to Latin and Hispanic art in the museum's permanent collection galleries, and guests are encouraged to visit the newly redesigned ArtLens gallery while they're there, per the museum's listing.
Cleveland.com's own reporting adds further detail to that gallery experience, noting the museum's permanent collection includes works by Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró, Félix González-Torres, Amelia Peláez and María Izquierdo Sánchez. The outlet also points to Binocular Tension, an installation by Mexican Canadian artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, as part of what guests can see during the party.
Tickets, Pricing and Fine Print
Tickets run $16 for nonmembers and $5 for Cleveland Museum of Art members, while Leadership Circle members attend free, according to Cleveland.com's reporting. All attendees need a ticket regardless of membership status, and the museum says those tickets are nonrefundable once purchased.
The museum also spells out costume restrictions for the night: full-face masks, heavy face paint, glitter, weaponlike props and excessively oversized costumes are all prohibited, per its event page. Organizers direct would-be attendees to buy directly through the museum's own authorized platforms, including its official website and ticket center, rather than third-party resellers.
