Three sci-fi favorites are about to fill up a six-story screen in downtown Cleveland. Great Lakes Science Center plans to show Nope, Interstellar and V for Vendetta in its Cleveland Clinic DOME Theater during fall 2026, part of the museum's monthly Thursday night movie series.
DOME Movies After Dark continues with Nope, Jordan Peele's 2022 science-fiction horror film starring Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer, on October 22, according to Axios. The film follows siblings trying to capture evidence of a UFO terrorizing their family ranch. It's the first of three fall screenings on tap for the theater, which the Science Center describes as its monthly Thursday night series bringing blockbusters to the Cleveland Clinic DOME Theater.
Christopher Nolan's 2014 space epic Interstellar, starring Matthew McConaughey, follows on November 19. The film won an Oscar for visual effects, and Nolan and McConaughey attended a special screening of it in London in 2014, per Axios. The lineup wraps December 17 with V for Vendetta, the 2005 dystopian thriller starring Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving.
How Tickets and Timing Work
All three films begin at 6 p.m. on Thursdays, matching the schedule listed on the Science Center's ticketing page, which shows the same run of screenings through the fall. Adult movie tickets cost $10.95, while tickets for children ages 2 to 12 run $8.95. Seating is first-come, first-served, and doors to the theater open about 10 minutes before showtime.
Moviegoers can also explore the museum and the NASA Glenn Visitor Center before the films with a separate general admission ticket, since the Science Center is open until 8 p.m. on Thursdays. The concession stand serves popcorn, candy and hot pretzels alongside pizza and a bar, and member discounts are available for the series.
A Screen With Deep Roots in Cleveland
The DOME Theater was formerly known as the Omnimax Theatre, and its current setup features a six-story-high screen and an 11,600-watt digital sound system, according to cleveland.com. That scale is part of what's drawn crowds back for over a decade — Axios identifies Sam as the person who saw Interstellar at the Science Center back in 2015, when the film opened at the venue under its old Omnimax name.
That 2015 run, previously reported by Cleveland Scene, featured introductions and post-film Q&A sessions with local scientists and drew a crowd of more than 80 people to its first screening, with tickets priced at $11 at the time. The fall lineup arrives as Great Lakes Science Center celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2026, a milestone that adds a bit of extra weight to this season's programming.
Following a Full Year of DOME Screenings
The fall slate builds on a busy year for the series. The Science Center's 2026 summer lineup ran from Titanic on May 21 through Contact on September 24, with Jaws, Superman, Project Hail Mary and One Battle After Another filling the months in between, per the venue's own release. Last fall's series, meanwhile, opened with two screenings of Sinners in October before moving on to Top Gun: Maverick in November and The Avengers in December, cleveland.com reported at the time.
