Cleveland is getting a brief taste of fall Monday, with sunny skies and a high near 71. Monday should stay calm, but the stretch will not last long as warmer air and storm chances return by Tuesday night.
Cool Monday Brings A Brief Lakeshore Hazard
North winds around 7 to 13 mph will keep Monday feeling crisp, while skies remain clear through the afternoon. A Beach Hazards Statement remains in effect until 10 a.m. for Cuyahoga and other lakeshore counties, according to the National Weather Service Cleveland office.
Swimmers should stay out of Lake Erie during the advisory, especially near sandbars and structures that can pull people away from shore. Conditions are expected to improve later Monday as winds ease and high pressure settles over the region.
Tuesday Warms Up Before Overnight Storms
Tuesday will feel much different, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 83 as southerly winds push warmer air into Cleveland. Showers and thunderstorms could develop Tuesday afternoon and evening, with storms becoming more likely overnight.
Forecasters say some storms could bring locally heavy rain, while the main severe-weather concern is farther west and northwest of Cleveland. A Marginal Risk for severe thunderstorms is in place across parts of northwest Ohio, where damaging wind gusts are the primary concern.
Wet Weather Lingers Through Thursday
Wednesday stays warm near 80 with partly sunny skies and scattered showers and thunderstorms. Thursday could reach 83 with a 50% chance of showers before afternoon storms become possible, keeping outdoor plans on a somewhat soggy leash.
The unsettled pattern is a sharper change from the earlier Cleveland forecast, which highlighted a quieter weekend setup. Friday looks somewhat calmer with a high near 78 and no rain expected, but more rain could return Saturday and thunderstorms are likely Saturday night before another chance of storms Sunday.
