The National Weather Service expects mostly dry conditions through Thursday, when Columbus could reach 86 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Winds will generally remain from the south at 5 to 10 mph, making Thursday feel more like a final summer encore than the opening act of October.

Rain chances return Thursday night, with showers likely Friday mainly after 2 p.m. Friday will be cloudy, breezy and cooler, with a high near 73 and a 90% chance of rain; rainfall totals could reach a quarter to a half-inch.
Some showers may linger into Friday evening before tapering off.
