Griffin Cordell’s first mural is being painted on the side of Pace Jewelers in Greenville’s West End. Edgar W. Pace opened the Pendleton Street shop in 1948, according to the Greenville Journal.
Cordell is a full-time artist and gallery owner in Greenville who works from a studio at The Artbomb Company, his artist website says. The site also notes that painting has recently taken a prominent place in his practice.
The mural’s subjects and progress
The 70-foot mural includes millworkers, architects, artists and Shoeless Joe Jackson, WYFF4 reports. The station says painting took two months after nearly a year of planning, and the work was nearly complete when it reported on the project.
