One person suffered serious injuries early Thursday morning after a two-vehicle crash shut down all lanes of the southbound frontage road on the 183 South Toll road at 51st Street in East Austin, according to authorities. Emergency crews worked the scene along the busy interchange.
Austin police responded to the crash on the southbound frontage road at 51st Street, and the Texas Department of Transportation said all southbound frontage road lanes in the area were closed as a result, as reported by CBS Austin. The station reached out to Austin-Travis County EMS for additional information on the extent of the injuries.
The exact cause of the crash has not been detailed, and it remains unclear whether speed or another factor contributed to the collision. CBS Austin's report does not specify how long the closure lasted or when lanes were expected to reopen.
A Notoriously Tricky Merge Point

In April, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers arrested a driver on an intoxication manslaughter charge tied to a fatal three-vehicle crash on US 183 South near William Cannon Drive that killed a passenger, a case Hoodline previously reported stemmed from a wreck on February 21.
No word has been released on the specific cause of Thursday's crash, and the current condition of the seriously injured victim has not been made public.
