A Crystal City man is behind bars after police say he assaulted his girlfriend multiple times, locked her inside their residence, and cut off her access to a phone during an incident in which some of the alleged assaults occurred in front of her children on Sunday. Nicolas Lopez II now faces multiple warrants stemming from the alleged attack, according to police.
Crystal City Police Department said officers were contacted by a woman who reported an ongoing domestic violence incident, according to News 4 San Antonio. Police allege that Lopez, the woman's boyfriend, assaulted her multiple times and threatened her during the encounter.
Woman Says She Was Trapped Inside
According to police, Lopez restricted the woman's access to a telephone, locked the residence door, and prevented her from leaving. Investigators also allege that some of the assaults occurred in the presence of her children, per the same account.
Police issued multiple warrants for Lopez after investigating the reported incident. Officers were then able to locate Lopez, and Crystal City police arrested him in connection with the case.
Suspect Held Pending Court Appearance
Lopez was taken to the Crystal City Police Department following his arrest, where he was pending presentation before a magistrate. No further details on the specific charges, bond status, or the location of the residence were available in the reporting.
