The better chance for showers and thunderstorms arrives from roughly 3 p.m. through the evening, when a few storms could bring brief downpours and spotty gusty winds, according to the National Weather Service.
Storms are expected to trend east toward the Interstate 95 corridor, with a window between about 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. That update changes the planning equation for afternoon commutes, outdoor dining and evening events; the severe-weather threat remains limited, but an indoor backup is still a smart idea.
Friday Brings A Noticeable Cooldown
Showers and thunderstorms should diminish a couple of hours after dark Thursday, with the cold front crossing late Thursday night into early Friday, followed by partly cloudy skies and a low near 72 degrees. Friday then brings highs ranging from the upper 70s to mid-80s, with possible residual afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Northerly winds could gust to 15 to 20 knots in the afternoon.
Saturday looks like the weekend's best outdoor-weather bet, with mostly cloudy skies, lower humidity and highs in the 70s to low 80s. The forecast stays mainly dry, although Saturday night may turn mostly cloudy with temperatures dipping to around 67.
Sunday Starts The Next Unsettled Stretch
Weather becomes less cooperative Sunday, with renewed chances of showers and thunderstorms.
