Dallas is heading into another dangerous triple-digit day today, with sunny skies, a high near 101 degrees and heat index values that could reach 107. A Heat Advisory remains in effect through 8 p.m., making afternoon outdoor plans especially risky as the city bakes under steady south-southeast winds.
The day began clear with temperatures in the low-to-mid 80s, but readings will climb quickly through the morning and afternoon. The National Weather Service in Fort Worth says winds will run about 5 to 10 mph, while rain chances remain near zero for most of Dallas.
Thursday Brings A Small Rain Chance
Tomorrow will stay nearly as hot, with a high near 100 and a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon. Storm chances are expected to be higher west of Interstate 35, and any stronger cell could produce brief heavy rain, lightning, and gusty, erratic winds.
Friday through next Monday will offer little relief, with highs around 100 to 101 degrees and overnight lows near 79 or 80. Next Tuesday is also forecast to reach about 100, keeping the stretch of above-normal temperatures firmly in place across North Texas.
Heat Safety Remains The Priority
Residents should move strenuous outdoor work to the early morning or evening, drink water regularly, and take frequent breaks in shade or air conditioning. Lightweight clothing can help, but never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle, even for a short time, and check on older adults and neighbors who may be especially vulnerable to the heat.
