A drama professor at North Central Texas College is no longer employed there after being arrested on a charge of solicitation of a minor via computer, in a case that authorities say began with an undercover sting nearly 1,200 miles away in Central Florida. Aaron Wood, 34, was booked into the Denton County Jail on Friday, September 25, 2026, according to arrest records.

Snapchat Messages Led Investigators Back to Denton

The charge against Wood originates in Orange County, Florida, in the Orlando area, according to the Denton Record-Chronicle. An arrest affidavit states that on May 22, 2026, Wood sent sexually explicit messages on Snapchat to an undercover officer with the Orange County Sheriff's Office in Florida, as reported by FOX 4 News. The affidavit further states that Wood sent a picture of male genitals to the officer and asked to see theirs.

Investigators were able to track Wood through the IP address used during the interaction, which led them back to an apartment in Denton, per the same report. That digital trail ultimately connected the Florida sting operation to Wood's residence in North Texas, where the Denton County Sheriff's Office made the arrest four months later.

College Says No Students or Staff Were Involved

Wood had worked at North Central Texas College as a Professor of Drama from September 1, 2024, until September 28, 2026, the station's report notes. The college announced that he is no longer employed there following his arrest, and said in a statement that no students or staff are believed to be involved with his alleged crimes.

North Central Texas College also said it verified that Wood has had no contact with its students, faculty or staff since his arrest on Friday. Per the same account, the college added that it was not aware of any prior reports, complaints or documented allegations involving similar conduct during his time there. The Denton Record-Chronicle reported that although the alleged conduct occurred outside the college system, the college notified faculty, staff and students and asked anyone with relevant information to contact appropriate authorities.

Booking Status at Denton County Jail

Wood has been booked into the Denton County Jail, and no bond was listed on the jail's website, according to FOX 4 News. Denton County maintains its own judicial and law enforcement records search for the public to check case updates. The Denton Record-Chronicle reported on the case before CBS Texas, which also noted the arrest in its own coverage, which can be viewed via CBS Texas.
