Construction crews have already broken ground on a new stretch of asphalt along Shier Rings Road in Dublin, and the city plans to mark the milestone with an official groundbreaking ceremony next Friday. The $544,300 Shier Rings Road Shared-Use Path will stitch together a missing link in the city's bike and pedestrian network, giving residents a continuous route between Avery-Muirfield Drive and Cosgray Road once it's finished.
According to the Washington Township Fire Department-Dublin OH, the groundbreaking celebration is scheduled for Sept. 18, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Washington Township Administration Building at 6200 Eiterman Rd. The event will celebrate the start of construction on the path, which is being funded through the regional LinkUS mobility initiative and is described as a partnership between Washington Township and the City of Dublin. The event is part of a broader regional mobility effort.
Physical work on the corridor is already underway. Per the Dublin Ledger, the project involves building an eight-foot-wide asphalt trail spanning roughly 2,175 feet along the south side of Shier Rings Road between Eiterman Road and Cosgray Road. Construction officially began Aug. 17, with completion planned for October, and the scope includes new storm sewer piping and reconstruction of private driveway aprons along the route.

Dublin City Council followed with a unanimous vote on March 9, 2026, authorizing the acquisition of easements from seven property owners before the city awarded the construction contract to J & J Schlaegel, Inc. on May 26, 2026. While the groundbreaking ceremony is set for next Friday, construction had already started in August, according to the outlet's reporting.
Once complete, the path will add to Dublin's active transportation network. The project is being funded through the broader LinkUS regional mobility initiative.
A Regional Tax Fuels Local Trails
The project is part of a broader regional mobility effort that includes investments in sidewalks, bikeways and trails and expanded bus service.
Dublin also has other transportation projects and services beyond Shier Rings Road. A separate regional effort involving a shared-use path along Dublin Road has also been discussed.
Building on an Already Bike-Friendly City
Dublin has an established active-transportation network. The Shier Rings Road path adds to that network and to broader regional investment in active transportation.
Hoodline previously reported on park work along this corridor, when Shier Rings Park closed for renovations while the nearby path along Emerald Parkway stayed open to the public.
