A man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after Baltimore Police found him suffering from a gunshot wound in the 2500 block of East Oliver Street on Saturday night, with detectives determining the shooting actually happened in the 1400 block of North Luzerne Avenue. He was taken to a nearby hospital, and the case remains under investigation as detectives try to piece together what happened between the two East Baltimore locations.
Police responded to a reported shooting in the 2500 block of East Oliver Street, according to FOX45 News, where officers found the man with a gunshot wound. The outlet reports that the subsequent investigation revealed the actual shooting scene was in the 1400 block of North Luzerne Avenue.

A Corridor With a Violent History
The 2500 block of East Oliver Street has seen gun violence before. In November 2024, a shooting during a dispute on that same block led to the February 2025 arrest of 58-year-old Raynard Venable on attempted first-degree murder charges, according to the Baltimore Police Department. In that earlier case, the victim fled to the 2700 block of East Federal Street, where medics and police were notified. Two blocks away, a 25-year-old man was fatally shot in April 2023 in the 2300 block of East Oliver Street, a case that led to an arrest nearly a year later in March 2024, per the Baltimore Witness.
Citywide Numbers Show a Different Trend
Saturday's shooting comes even as Baltimore has posted improving numbers on gun violence overall. As of September 1, the city had recorded 201 non-fatal shootings and 72 homicides for the year, a 5.6% decrease in non-fatal shootings compared to the same period in 2025, according to the Baltimore City Mayor's Office. Mayor Brandon Scott has attributed the continued reductions to the city's Group Violence Reduction Strategy and community violence intervention programs.
Between January 1 and August 29, 2026, officers had seized more than 1,367 firearms citywide, including 138 untraceable ghost guns, and made 826 gun-related arrests, per the mayor's office.
