A man was shot in the head while sitting inside his car on Rutland Road in East Flatbush, according to police sources. He was struck once in the left side of the head.
A Separate Fatal Shooting in 2020
The Bronx Times reported that a 51-year-old man was shot in the head in a separate 2020 incident near Utica Avenue and Rutland Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two shootings were separate incidents. The 2020 case was fatal; the victim in the 2026 shooting was listed in critical condition.
Another East Flatbush Shooting in 2025
A separate shooting occurred on April 19, 2025, near Utica Avenue and Avenue D. According to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, the incident followed an alleged dispute involving rival motorcycle clubs; the DA said a defendant fired 14 rounds toward unknown individuals. The DA said three individuals were shot and wounded, including a 35-year-old victim who was shot in the leg; it did not report a death. This was a different incident and location from the Rutland Road shooting.

No suspect has been identified in the 2026 shooting, and no arrests or charges have been confirmed.
