The incident happened around 2:45 p.m. on Monday, July 20, in the 75th Precinct, and investigators still have not named a suspect nearly two months later.
According to a wanted post from NYPD Crime Stoppers
, the unidentified individual is wanted for reckless endangerment after displaying and discharging a firearm multiple times in front of the Pennsylvania Avenue address before fleeing eastbound. The agency has not released a description of the person, a motive, or any details about the weapon used.
Real-time alerts from Citizen labeled the incident “Shots Fired,” but its timeline described the 911 report as unconfirmed. Citizen's mobilization point was 518 Pennsylvania Avenue in East New York, within the boundaries of the 75th Precinct. Citizen's dispatch noted that the reported address for the incident had been changed from an initial 548 Pennsylvania Avenue to 518 Pennsylvania Avenue as the situation developed. Police had not released a suspect description.
A Second, Unrelated Shooting Same Night
Hours later, a separate shooting erupted just before midnight outside a McDonald's at 835 Pennsylvania Avenue, injuring three teenagers. As reported by amNY, the victims included a 17-year-old girl who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, a 19-year-old man shot in the face, and an 18-year-old who sustained facial lacerations after falling during the chaos. Available evidence does not establish any connection between that nighttime shooting and the earlier daytime incident outside 518 Pennsylvania Avenue.
All three teens from the McDonald's shooting were taken to Brookdale Hospital and were expected to survive, the outlet's report noted. No arrests had been made in that case at the time of the report, and the motive remained unknown.

The wave of gunfire on Pennsylvania Avenue landed in a precinct already seeing a mixed crime picture.
