The Bigger Story Behind the Negroni
Negroni Week began in 2013, when Imbibe magazine launched the event with about 120 participating venues. Organizers say it has raised more than $5 million for charitable causes, according to Negroni Week. The event now includes thousands of bars and restaurants worldwide, with this year's edition supporting Slow Food and its work toward a more sustainable and equitable food-and-beverage system.
A mixed recovery for city hospitality
According to the Office of New York City Comptroller Mark Levine, New York City's leisure and hospitality sector recovered steadily through 2024 but had no employment growth in 2025 and remained 5 percent below its pre-pandemic employment peak. The same city economic data shows that taxable sales at New York City restaurants grew 5.2 percent over the past year, equivalent to 2.1 percent growth after adjusting for inflation.
For visitors, Eataly's lineup puts the week's guest shifts, ticketed social and rotating cocktail menus in one Flatiron location, with programming split between Amalfi and La Piazza.
